My sister asked me to sew an Aladdin costume for her little boy.

I have had some fun, but there are a lot of things I would do different, if I were to sew this again!

I have never made any type of hat like this. I created this little pattern, and though it is not perfect, it will work for Halloween.

The pants are a little too small for Jack, since Aladdin wears them over his belly-button, but Gabe is a little smaller. If I did these again, I would make them wider. I took a regular 2T pant pattern and made the legs wider and the crouch lower. I added elastic to the top and bottom.
The belt is a sash made with chiffon, and wrapped many times. I just tucked it in, but I recommend pinning or tying it for Halloween night.

Surfin'...Bama style!

Growing up in Alabama, my brother and sister and I use to surf down the hills of grass on refrigerater boxes (no snow, no waves..it was the only surfing or sledding we got). It was a family tradition. I realized this Sunday, that I have never let my kids try this {gasp}! I immediately grabbed some boxes and we headed out to the front lawn. {Don't mind the crazy after church get-up!}

Our lawn was too bumpy, but we came up with another idea.

"Let me give you a push, Jackson."

I made this pumpkin costume for Tan (more on that later), and Jack wouldn't take it off all day!

How about head-first...okay, maybe I had as much fun as the kids!

We lovingly refer to Jackson as our class clown. He does the craziest and funniest things.

He will do anything to get the other boys to laugh at him.

One day he was being very difficult, so I let him go into the other room and play on his own. He came running back to us a couple minutes later with only a diaper on. He grabbed both diaper tapes ripped them open and said,

"DIAPER OFF!"

Tanner and Rustin started laughing hysterically and so did Jack.
I had to start laughing too, if you can't beat them, join them!

California

Kenny had a business trip, and I was fortunate enough to tag along with him.

I shopped, read, ran, and hung out at the beach. Kenny wasn't around much, and I actually think this was good for me to have to entertain myself for a while. I have this problem where I don't like to be alone. I don't think I have ever spent this much time on my own...EVER!

I have heard so much about families falling apart, and, as I was beach watching, I saw some uplifting moments. I was happy to see that there are families still going strong.

Kenny took me out to lunch on my B-day.

I had a lot of fun and I appreciated Kenny's sister for taking our kiddos, but I have learned some things I already knew. I don't like to be alone, and I hate to be without my boys. I was SO anxious to get back to them. I also LOVE having time with just Kenny!

It was a good birthday. Thanks for all the calls and wishes.
